Shahabuddin Ahmed ((ベンガル語:শাহাবুদ্দিন আহেমদ); born: 11 September 1950) is a painter born in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dhaka before obtaining a scholarship to study at the Ecole Superieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. He has shown his works extensively around the globe. ==Career==
He also received the Shadhinota Padak in 2000 (The Independence Day Award for his contribution during the Independence War of Bangladesh in 1971) and the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2014 for his contribution to Art in France and globally.
Shahbuddin served as a Platoon Commander in the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971, before studying art, and his experiences in the war are clearly reflected in his artwork. He has painted numerous scenes from the war (e.g. the Killing of the Intellectuals) as well as portraits of key figures such as Sheikh Mujhibur Rahman. Shahabuddin's work also looks forward, chronicling our times. As well as great leaders, his work depicts ordinary people and ordinary lives. He is an eternal optimist and this is clearly expressed in his paintings.
He has the capability to overcome the constraints of time and space. In their dynamism his paintings depict fearless human figures that cut through the difficulties of life. The vibrancy and force of his brushwork highlights this aspect and create a strong sense of movement. Above all his compositions are unmistakably musical and rhythmic. Shahabuddin’s figures seem to be enthralled in the cosmic dance at times merging with the ethereal forces.
His works are displayed in many galleries around the globe including the Olympic Museum of Lausanne in Switzerland, Bangladesh National Museum, Bulgarian National Museum in Sofia, Seoul Olympic Museum of South Korea and Bourg-en Bresse Museum France as well as in India, USA, and England.
Shahabuddin's paintings are permanently displayed in Galerie Daniel Besseiche, Galerie Samagra, Galerie du Fleuve in Paris 6ème (rue Jacob, rue de Seine, sur Guénégaud) Galerie Jas de la Rimade in south of France (Carcès near to Aix-en-Provence) Galerie Daniel Besseiche in Courchevel, Deauville and Saint-Tropez.
His paintings are often sold by auction in Drouot, Artcurial, Christie's, and Versailles Enchères.
